No. 18 Spartans Take Down No. 21 CSUN But Fall To No. 12 UCSB

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Lucy Miszewski scored three goals to lead the No. 18 San José State women's water polo team in their 10-9 loss to No. 12 UCSB. Darcy Spark scored three goals and added an assist in the second match of the day to lead the Spartans in their 10-8 win against No. 21 CSUN at the Lancer Aquatic Center in Riverside, Calif. 

No. 12 UCSB 

  • Spark scored the first goal of the game, shortly followed by a penalty goal from Miszewski to make the score 2-0 at the end of the first period. 
  • Ryann Lucchesi, Genevieve Larkin, Sinia Plotz, and Maiken Pardon also scored during the match. 
  • The Spartans led the Guanchos 5-4 going into halftime. 
  • SJSU drew eight exclusions during the match to gain multiple power play opportunities. 

No. 21 CSUN

  • Renee Fleming, Jennine Osorio, Plotz, Pardon, Larkin, and Lucchesi also scored during the match. 
  • Grace Smith recorded seven saves on the afternoon. 
  • The Spartans outscored CSUN in the both the first and fourth quarters. 
  • Lucchesi made the first goal of the match at 5:29 in the first quarter.
