SAN FRANCISCO –Will Bujake and Amanda Chalburg led the way for the Spartans as both the men and women of San José State cross country ran in their season-opening meet at the USF Invitational on Friday afternoon from Golden Gate Park.
- A sophomore transfer, Bujake led the way for the men finishing in 54th place with a personal best time of 25:55.5.
- Right behind Bujake was fellow sophomore Alexander Walker who finished in 55th place running his own personal best time of 25:56.6.
- Michael Chadwick finished in 56th place, with a time of 25:58.1, just off of his PB.
- Cristian Lopez had a strong start to the season setting a new personal best with a time of 27:52.7.
- Diego Cortes made his collegiate debut finishing in 76th place with a time 26:43.9
- Adrian Gomez made his collegiate debut with a time of 27:16.8
- Alex Mendoza made his collegiate debut with a time of 28:32.1
- Sophomore Amanda Chalburg led the way on the women's side, finishing in 31st with a time of 22:25.3 just off of her personal best.
- Freshman Grace Scott, made her NCAA debut with a time of 23:22.8.
- Nereyda Alvarez-Gonzalez, had a strong start to the season with a time of 23:35.6.
- Sophomore Gabriella Hernandez finished with a time of 24:33.2.
- Freshman Isabella Santillan made her NCAA debut with a time of 24:54.9
- Samantha villavicencio made her NCAA debut with a time of 25:21.9
- Freshman Malia Seki made her NCAA debut with a time of 25:26.8
UP NEXT: The Spartans will be back in action on September 20 when they compete in the Pacific Invitational in Lodi, Calif. Scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m.
