Spartans Set Multiple Personal Bests for Second Consecutive Race at Bronco Invitational

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – Will Bujake and Amanda Challburg led the way as San José State cross country had seven runners set personal bests for the second consecutive meet in their final competition of the regular season at the Bronco Invitational hosted by Santa Clara on Saturday morning from Baylands Park in Sunnyvale, Calif. 

  • The Spartans would have seven runners set personal bests for the second consecutive meet:

- Will Bujake would finish in 46th with a time of 25:18.4, beating his previous PB by over 30 seconds

- Amanda Challburg would finish in 55th with a time of 21:54.5

- Michael Chadwick would finish with a time of 25:47.4

- Nereyda Alvarez-Gonzalez finished with a time of 22:55.1

- Malia Seki, with a time of 24:33.6

- Samantha Villavicencio finished with a time of 24:44.7

- Lauren Strazzeri would finish with a time of 26:40.4

  • On the men’s side, Alexander Walker finished with a time of 25:44.5
  • Diego Cortes finished with a time of 26:44.3 for the freshman. 
  • Adrian Gomez finished with a time of 27:31.8.
  • Alex Mendoza would finish with a time of 27:47.2
  • Cristian Lopez would finish with a time of 28:23.2
  • Nathan Lau made his season debut with a time of 28:44.6
  • On the women’s side, Grace Scott would finish with a time of 22:46.8
  • Gabriella Hernandez would finish the race with a time of  24:01.9
  • The Spartans finished with a total score of 384 on the men's and 476 on the women's sides.

UP NEXT: The Spartans will travel to Colorado Springs, Colo. for the Mountain West Cross Country Championships hosted on Eisenhower Golf Course at Air Force on November 1.
