Nash Sets Reception Record as Spartans Fall to No. 13 Boise State Presented by Alaska Airlines

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Nick Nash set the SJSU all-time record for receptions in a single season to lead San José State football (6-4, 3-3 MW) in a 42-21 loss against No. 13 Boise State (9-1, 6-0 MW), presented by Alaska Airlines in front of a sell-out crowd at CEFCU Stadium on Saturday night.

  • The attendance for tonight’s sell-out game was 20,517, the most since November 29, 2013, against Fresno State, when attendance reached 23,574. It is the 22nd-highest attended game at San José State.
  • With Nash’s fourth reception of the game, he set a new SJSU all-time record for receptions in a single season with 90. 
  • Nash would finish with nine receptions for 126 yards with one touchdown catch in this game. 
  • Nash now has a receiving touchdown in every game this season (10), which is an SJSU record.
  • Nash now sits second in SJSU history with 23 receiving touchdowns. He is six touchdowns away from a tie for first. 
  • Nash leads the nation in touchdown receptions with 14.
  • Nash is now one touchdown reception away from Chandler Jones’ SJSU record for touchdown receptions in a season and six away from Chandler Jones’s record for most career touchdown receptions. 
  • Walker Eget went 34-for-50 with 446 passing yards and three touchdown passes.
  • Eget’s 446 passing yards and three throwing touchdowns set career highs in both categories.  
  • Eget’s three touchdown passes are the first time in his career that he has thrown for multiple touchdowns in a game. 
  • Eget's 446 yards are the most for the Spartans since Nick Starkel threw for 453 yards in the Mountain West Championship game against Boise State on Dec. 19, 2020.
  • Justin Lockhart finished with 10 receptions for 172 yards with one touchdown catch in this game.
  • Lockhart’s 10 receptions and 172 receiving yards set new single-game career and season-highs in both categories. 
  • Lockhart’s touchdown catch in the first quarter now gives him four for the season and nine for his career.
  • This is the second week in a row that both Nash and Lockhart had over 100 receiving yards. 
  • Jacob Stewart had four catches for 32 yards, including a touchdown catch in the second quarter. 
  • Stewart’s touchdown catch is his third of the season and the third of his career. 
  • DJ Harvey and Jordan Pollard led the Spartans' defense with eight total tackles each. Harvey had six solo tackles and Pollard had seven solo tackles. 
  • Soane Toia and Jordan Cobbs teamed up for a sack in the first quarter.
  • Toia finished with five tackles, including three solo tackles and one and a half sacks. Toia now has 4.5 sacks on the season and 11.5 for his career.
  • The Spartans defense held Boise State's Ashton Jeanty to 57 first-half rushing yards, the lowest this season. 
  • Mathias Brown had a fumble recovery in the second quarter, which is the first of his career.
  • Floyd Chalk IV led the Spartans in rushing in this game with 12 rushes for 36 yards.
  • Chalk IV's 12 rushes are now his seventh consecutive game with 10 or more carries.
  • Kyler Halvorsen’s 3-for-3 night now gives him 73 consecutive extra points made.
  • This is the seventh time this season that SJSU has scored on their opening drive of the game.
  • The Spartans are 4-1 at home this season. 
  • The Spartans have had over 300 yards of total offense in all 10 games so far this season.
