SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.—Randi Reeves and Jada Hall won twice on Monday as the San José State beach team opened Southland Conference play with a split, defeating Houston Christian, 3-2, before falling to Boise State, 3-1.
- Reeves and Hall needed three sets in their win over Houston Christian, 21-17, 14-21, 15-12.
- Number-one pair Sabrina Moore and Kiara Edwards won in straight sets, 21-16, 22-20, to get SJSU’s second point against HCU.
- Shirley Morrison and Elon Milroy improved to 9-6 on the season with a hard-fought three-set win – 21-18, 16-21, 15-8, as SJSU recorded their first conference win of the year.
- The Spartans fell in the second dual, 3-1, as the top pairs did not play due to travel.
- Reeves and Hall recorded the only Spartan point with a 21-19, 16-21, 15-11 win.
UP NEXT – San José State travels to the Southland Midseason Tournament in Thibodaux, La., this weekend for two duals on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
