SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State football (3–7, 2–4 Mountain West) heads to San Diego State (8-2, 5-1 MW) this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Catch all the action on FS1 and KTRB 860 AM.
The Spartans announced coaching changes earlier on Monday (story).
- The Spartans seek their second consecutive win over the Aztecs and first win in San Diego since a 38-34 victory on Sept. 22, 2012.
- SJSU hasn't won consecutive games over the Aztecs since beating them three times in a row in 2006, 2008 and 2012.
- During a seven-game stretch from 09/20 vs. Idaho to 11/08 vs. Air Force, Walker Eget went 172-for-277 (62%) for 2,449 yards (349.9 passing yards per game), 15 touchdowns and a QB rating of 154.23.
- Eget is second in the nation with 301.5 passing yards per game and 3,015 total passing yards, plus is fourth in the Mountain West with 17 touchdown passes. His total offense, averaging 310.9 yards per game, is fifth in the country and first in the MW.
- Eget went 275 passing attempts (09-06 to 11-08) without an interception, which is the third-longest in Mountain West history.
- The Spartans are averaging 6.4 yards per play this season and 7.2 yards per play during a seven-game stretch from 09/20 vs. Idaho to 11/08 vs. Air Force.
- In the Spartans' three wins, SJSU has averaged 174.3 rushing yards and 335.7 passing yards and a +4 turnover margin.
- In the Spartans' seven losses, SJSU has a -13 turnover margin.
- The Spartans have only allowed nine sacks on the season, the fewest in the Mountain West and seventh fewest in the country.
- SJSU is the only school in the country to have three receivers with 100 or more yards each in the same game twice this season. The last team to achieve this feat three times in a season was Hawai‘i in 2007, which accomplished it four times.
- Danny Scudero, a San Jose native, leads the country in receiving yards (1,155), receiving yards per game (115.5) and is third in the country with 10 receiving touchdowns (four 50 yards or more, six 40 yards or more). He is also fifth in the country and first in the MW, with 72 receptions, while averaging 7.2 receptions per game, which is fifth in the nation.
- On Monday, Scudero was named a Biletnikoff Award Semifinalist (story). This is the second consecutive season a Spartan (Nick Nash) has been named a Biletnikoff Award Semifinalist. Nash was the first SJSU Biletnikoff Award Finalist last season.
- Steve Chavez-Soto is fifth in the country with his seven rushing touchdowns among freshman running backs.
