Legendary Spartan Stars Return as Analysts

  • James Jones (Analyst): One of the most decorated wide receivers in San José State history, Jones played for the Spartans from 2003 to 2006. He capped off his college career as an All-Western Athletic Conference (WAC) First Team selection and MVP of the 2006 New Mexico Bowl. Drafted in the third round of the 2007 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers, Jones spent nine seasons in the NFL, winning Super Bowl XLV and leading the league in receiving touchdowns in 2012. Following his playing career, Jones established himself as a prominent national sports analyst on NFL Network and FOX Sports. Jones joined the CEFCU Stadium Ring of Honor and was inducted into the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame in 2021.
  • Boogie Roberts (Analyst): A fan favorite and defensive force during his tenure at SJSU from 2015 to 2018, Roberts anchored the Spartans' defensive line before launching a professional career in the USFL (Pittsburgh Maulers) and UFL (Memphis Showboats). Known for his infectious personality, charisma, and elite football IQ, Roberts brings a dynamic, modern player's perspective to the broadcast booth following featured roles on major sports media programs.
  • Jordan Cobbs (Analyst): Cobbs will return for select games once again as the radio analyst. An Oakland, Calif. native, Cobbs played for the Spartans from 2019 to 2024 and ended his career with 16 starts, 149 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, six pass breakups, and four interceptions. He also had career highs in tackles (69), tackles for loss (7.5), sacks (2.5), and interceptions (2), plus one pass breakup and one forced fumble in 2024.
  • Greg Kampe (Special Guest Contributor): While renowned as one of the longest-tenured head coaches in NCAA Division I men's basketball history at Oakland University and coming off an upset win over No. 3 seed Kentucky a few years ago, Kampe boasts deep collegiate football roots. As a two-sport athlete at Bowling Green State University from 1974 to 1978, Kampe starred on the gridiron as a defensive back, punter, and kicker. A two-time All-MAC Second-Team selection as a defensive back, Kampe set a school record with a 77-yard punt in 1975 and earned First Team Academic All-MAC honors in both football and basketball. He brings decades of athletic experience and unique dual-sport insights as the Spartans take on Eastern Michigan on Sept. 4 at 3:30 p.m. (PT).

Veteran Voices Lead Play-by-Play Duties
