SAN JOSE, Calif. – Jordi Tortell Daly and Isac Enriquez found the back of the net to lead the San José State men’s soccer team (2-3-1, 0-0-0 MW) in a 2-2 draw against Pacific (1-3-2, 0-0-0 WCC) on Thursday night at the Spartan Soccer Complex.
The Spartans controlled the opening half, outshooting the Tigers 11-3 and earning four corner kicks. Goalkeeper Ronin Axelson kept the match scoreless in the 27th minute when he stopped a Pacific penalty kick.
SJSU broke through just 20 seconds after halftime. Ryan Corcoran and Cameron Cook combined to set up Tortell Daly, who found the back of the net for his second goal of the season and gave the Spartans a 1-0 advantage.
Pacific answered in the 53rd minute with a goal from Xavier Cisneros to level the match.
The Spartans regained the lead in the 74th minute when Enriquez headed in his first career goal. Diego Nieves and Daniel Fregoso Bautista were credited with assists on the play.
Pacific pulled even again in the 87th minute. Axelson saved another penalty attempt, but Cisneros converted the rebound to complete his brace and secure the 2-2 draw.
SJSU finished with a 15-9 advantage in shots, a 6-4 edge in corner kicks. Tortell Daly led the Spartans with six shots, while Axelson finished with four saves.
