Andre Mercurio joined the San José State staff in 2020 after spending the last four years playing for the Florence Y'alls of the Frontier League. The Vallejo, Calif. native joined the Y'alls after graduating from SJSU in 2015.
Mercurio shined in center field for the Spartans and was a 2013 All-WAC selection. He also performed well in the classroom, being as a 2013 San Jose State Scholar-Athlete in addition to receiving 2012 Academic All-WAC honors.
The centerfielder hit .315 offensively as a sophomore, notching 22 RBI while scoring 38 runs. He finished the season with a team-high 74 hits and four triples.
Mercurio graduated from SJSU with a bachelor's degree in communication studies and was a member of San José State's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).
On the professional level, Mercurio played in 238 games for the Y'alls. He hit .295 on the 2017 season, helping lead Florence to a division pennant and a berth in the Frontier League Championship. Mercurio ended that year with 52 RBI and six home runs.
