Jesus Sanchez was promoted to Associate Head Coach on August 14, 2024. Sanchez originally joined the Spartans men’s soccer staff as an assistant coach in 2018 and is now entering his eighth season in San José.
Sanchez has helped lead the Spartans to an appearance in the WAC Tournament in every season since he joined the coaching staff.
In his first season as Associate Head Coach, Sanchez helped lead the Spartans to the WAC Tournament Finals as the Tournament's fifth seed.
Sanchez played collegiately for now San José State head coach Simon Tobin at CSU Bakersfield from 2009 to 2012, becoming one of the most prolific players in program history in his time with the Roadrunners. He finished his four seasons there with 16 goals and 27 assists while compiling a record of 40-22-15. One of Sanchez’s top performances came as a sophomore, where he led CSUB in both goals (8) and points (18) en route to an 11-win season.
After graduating from CSU Bakersfield, Sanchez enjoyed a successful playing career in the United Soccer League with the Oklahoma City Energy.
The Mazatlan, Mexico native began his coaching career at Roadrunner United FC and most recently coached with the PACNW Soccer Club in Washington before making the move to San José.
