Mike Waller, a collegiate athletics administrator with over 25 years experience, was named Senior Associate Athletics Director for Business Operations at San José State University in June 2015.
Waller came to San José State after two successful years working in the Mountain West Conference office where he served as Senior Associate Commissioner and Chief Financial Officer.
Before joining the Mountain West in 2013, Waller worked in the Boise State University athletics department for 24 years. He began his Boise State career as the assistant women's volleyball coach, a position he held for nine years until stepping in as the interim head coach for the final two months of the 1998 season.
In the final year of his coaching duties, Waller also took on an administrative role within the department, serving as associate director of athletics and chief financial officer. During his 12-year tenure as CFO, Waller oversaw a budget growth of $25 million while assisting with the construction, expansion and renovation process of more than 10 athletic facilities.
In addition to his financial responsibilities, Waller served as an Associate Athletic Director for Administration for two years. During his tenure, he supervised contracts and negotiations for equipment, apparel, football travel and Bowl games as well as supervised multiple programs, sports and NCAA events.
Waller served on multiple Boise State University committees such as Professional Staff Salary Administrative Program, Human Resources Grievance Review Board, University Food Service Contract and Campus Recreation Advisory Board.
A native of Jefferson City, Mo., Waller graduated from the University of Central Missouri in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education.
