Fullback Shane Smith had the two most impressive marks of the day with his bench press and standing long jump at San Jose State University's annual Pro Timing Day inside the Koret Athletic Training Center and in CEFCU Stadium, Home of the Spartans.
The fifth-year senior bench pressed 225-pounds 36 times, six more than the previous best of 30 by current graduate assistant and former all-conference offensive lineman Nicholas Kaspar's 30 in 2014.
After the bench press, Smith had a standing long jump mark of 10-feet-6, an inch better than Peyton Thompson and Manu Ngatikaura's previous Spartan best of 10-feet-5, both in 2012 -- the first year complete sets of Pro Timing Day marks were recorded.
The 244-pound Spartan had the best vertical jump of the 16 seniors from the 2014 through 2016 classes at 37.0-inches.
Defensive end Isaiah Irving, at 36.0-inches and wide receiver Tim Crawley at 35.0-inches were next behind Smith.
Wide receiver Dontonio Jordan, who joined the San Jose State team in 2016 after four seasons at Stanford, was the other Spartan to have at least a 10-foot-0 standing long jump at 10-feet-0.
Jordan had the fastest times in the 40-yard sprint, 3-cone drill and shared top honors in the short shuttle run of 4.58, 6.85, and 4.23 seconds, respectively. Linebacker Epie Sona matched Jordan in the short shuttle run.
Linebacker Christian Tago had the second most bench press repetitions on the day with 26.
Scouts from 14 National Football League (NFL) and two Canadian Football League teams watched the San Jose State seniors at Pro Timing Day.
