Three Top-Five Spartan Finishes At Woody Wilson Collegiate Meet

Davis, Calif.----- Mikayla Akers' second-place finish in the 1500 meters was the tops of three top-five finishes by the San Jose State University women's track and field team at the Woody Wilson Collegiate meet.
 
            Akers posted a time of 4:35.83, more than 10 seconds faster than her first 1500 of the season at the Rainbow Relays in March.
 
Freshman Eseta Finau, San Jose State University's first woman's pole vaulter in school history, fourth-place finish in her specialty and Diamond Tabron's fifth in her first 400 hurdles of the season rounded out the Spartans' three top-five placings at the meet. Finau cleared 11-feet-7.00 and Tabron ran 1:05.76 in the hurdles.
 
Akers' running mate Camilla Hanson also recorded a season-best in the 1500 with her seventh-place time of 4:38.75.
 
Sprinters Daja Johnson and Alicia Johnson notched season bests in the 200 with times of 25.79 and 27.59, respectively.
 
In the team scoring, San Jose State placed fourth out of five teams. Sacramento State was first with 219 points. UC Davis with 212 and San Francisco with 50 also were ahead of the Spartans' 34.
 
            The Spartans have a number of meets scheduled in Northern and Southern California next weekend. Stanford hosts the Cardinal Classic, April 19 & 20 and there are the Mt. SAC Relays on April 20 and the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate on April 18.
