Eight Spartans Receive WCC All Academic Honors

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San José State men's water polo team had eight student-athletes receive WCC All-Academic honors announced by the conference Thursday morning. Bence Szabo and Connor Macmillan were both named to the 2023 WCC Men's Water Polo All-Academic team for their contributions in and out of the pool, while Erik Duesund, Mark Kis, Nikki Matheisen, Itay Nemet, Nikola Nikolic, and Laszlo Szieben all received All-Academic honorable mention recognition.

"I would like to congratulate all of our student-athletes on their academic achievements. These WCC awards are given based on cumulative grade point average over the year. Earning these awards is a testament to their hard work outside of the pool despite all of their time commitment to our water polo team. Keep up the good work!" Said head coach Gabor Sarusi

To qualify for West Coast Conference all-academic honors, players must maintain at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to their team and in their second year of school.
