SAN JOSE, Calif. – San José State softball is set to begin their 2025 season this weekend as they compete in the NorCal Kickoff tournament hosted by UC Davis and Sacramento State on Friday through Sunday from Davis, Calif. and Sacramento, Calif.
- The Spartans will play five games in their opening tournament of the season. In a round-robin style tournament, SJSU will play two games against Idaho State, one game against UC Davis, one game against Utah Valley, and the finale against Sacramento State.
- After concluding the Norcal Kickoff, the Spartans will return home to host games against Cal Poly, UC San Diego and the University of Illinois-Chicago in the Silicon Valley Classic I at Spartan Softball Complex on Feb. 14-16.
- SJSU will then hit the road for two tournaments on consecutive weekends at the end of February, competing in the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic from Cathedral City, Calif., and the Libby Matson Tournament in Stockton, Calif.
- In their final tournament of the season, the Spartans will return home to host the Silicon Valley Classic II with games against Princeton and Santa Clara.
- SJSU will compete in five tournaments in the first month of the season before jumping into conference play on March 14 at New Mexico.
- The first homestand of the Mountain West Conference schedule will be against Colorado State March 21-23 from Spartan Softball Complex.
- Senior Day will take place on Sunday, April 27 against Boise State from Spartan Softball Complex.
- The Mountain West tournament will take place from May 8-10 in San Diego, Calif.
- Junior utility player Reina Zermeno was selected to the Mountain West Preseason Team for the 2025 season as voted by the coaches.
- SJSU returns six seniors: Aubrie Thomas, Mia Reynolds, Taylor Squires, Lacie Ham, Aneesa Almaguer, and Jules Ronquillo, three juniors: Zermeno, Shay McDowell, and Ahmiya Noriega, four sophomores: Bella Rodriguez, Carly Cummings, Ava Conti, and Haley Reeve and one redshirt freshman: Taylor Chillingworth.
- The Spartans welcome six freshmen to the squad this season: Paige Breitstein, Gigi Ortega, Lalaina Moore, Taylor Peacock, Kaylani Lim, and Sarah Deplitch.
