Spartans Finish Eighth at ANNIKA Intercollegiate

LAKE ELMO, Minn.—Kleopatra Kozakiewicz shot a 4-under 68 in the final round of the ANNIKA Intercollegiate presented by 3M to lead the San José State women’s golf team to an eighth-place finish Wednesday afternoon at the Royal Golf Club.

  • Kozakiewicz is the third different Spartan to lead the team in scoring in the three rounds played.
  • Finishing her first collegiate tournament, Kozakiewicz had a rough start to the final round, shooting 1-over 37 on her first nine holes of the day (10-18), making four bogeys, three birdies and two pars.
  • Her final nine holes were a different story. She shot a 5-under 31, making birdies on holes 1, 3, 5, 6, and 9 and pars on the other four.
  • Kozakiewicz finished in 40th place at 9-over 225.
  • Regina Roldan recorded her first collegiate top-20 finish as she tied for 19th at 2-over 218 after shooting a 2-under 70 in the third round.
  • Roldan made her first eagle as a Spartan on the par-4, 296-yard 15th hole, and made five birdies on the day.
  • Moa Andersson tied for 26th at 4-over 220, shooting a 3-over 75 on Wednesday.
  • Ting Yu Chang shot a 4-over 76 and tied for 41st at 10-over 236.
  • Lotte Schuhr recorded her best round of the tournament with a 2-over 74 and tied for 51st at 16-over 232.
  • The Spartans were one of seven teams to record an under-par round on Wednesday as SJSU shot a 1-under 287 and finished the tournament eighth at 16-over 880.
  • The tournament field featured eight teams in the top-15 of the Golfweek preseason poll (Oregon, Texas, Southern California, Arizona State, Duke, Northwestern, Wake Forest, South Carolina).
