RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif.—Lotte Schuhr and Tessa Kremser each shot 1-under 71s in the first round of the Credit Union Mountain West Championship to help the San José State women’s golf team finish in a tie for first with Colorado State on Tuesday.
- Schuhr and Kremser are two of just five players who shot under par in the first round.
- Schuhr had a strong start to her round with birdies on the first two holes, two pars, then a bogey on the fifth hole before finishing with 13 consecutive pars. She leads the field in pars made at 15.
- Kremser shot a 34 over the first nine holes, making birdies on the sixth and ninth holes, and got to 3-under par with a birdie on the 11th hole. She fell to 1-under with bogeys on 13 and 15, but finished the round with three straight pars.
- Kleopatra Kozakiewicz is tied for 16th as she finished the round at 2-over 74, shooting a 34 on the back nine with two birdies and seven pars. Her round did not start out strong, going 5-over over the first five holes, but rebounded to shoot 3-under for the final 13 holes.
- Moa Andersson is tied for 20th at 3-over 75. She, too, had a rough start to the round, going 5-over for the first four holes, but then shot 2-under for the final 14 holes, making two birdies and 12 pars.
- Regina Roldan is tied for 28th at 4-over 76, making 13 pars and a birdie in the round.
- The Spartans shot a 3-over 291, to finish the day tied with Colorado State. The top six teams are all within eight shots of each other.
- San José State leads the field in par-3 scoring (+2) and pars made (66) while making the fewest bogeys in the field (8).
UP NEXT – Second-round action begins Tuesday for the Spartans at 9:10 a.m., with Colorado State and UNLV.
