COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— This spring, 123 San José State University student-athletes from 11 Spartan sports teams earned Academic All-Mountain West honors, as announced by the conference office.
The women’s swimming and diving team led all teams with 21 student-athletes honored, followed by men’s track and field with 18, baseball with 17, softball with 15, women’s track and field with 13, and women’s gymnastics with 11.
Five Spartan women’s swimmers earned Academic All-MW honors for the fourth time in their career at San José State – Mya Azzopardi, Luna Balbuena, Andreea Dragoi, Laís e Silva, Ela Freiman
For the 2025-26 academic year, a school-record 232 Spartans earned academic all-conference recognition from the Mountain West (16 sports – 200) Western Athletic Conference (men’s soccer – 5), Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (beach volleyball – 5; women’s water polo – 14) and West Coast Conference (men’s water polo – 7).
To qualify for Academic All-MW, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic semester at the institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better. The student-athlete must have competed in 50 percent of the team’s completed varsity contests.
In all, 1,526 student-athletes have been named to the spring 2025 Academic All-MW teams. Sports recognized include baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s golf, women’s gymnastics, softball, women’s swimming and diving, men’s and women’s tennis and men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track and field.
