San José State record: 3-3, 2-1 Mountain West. The Spartans won have their first winning streak of the season with back-to-back road wins at Hawai'i, 37-27, on October 5, and a 34-27 triumph at Colorado State on October 12.
Wyoming record: 4-2, 2-0 Mountain West before the October 19 game with Colorado State . The Cowboys made it three out of four with a 38-31 victory over New Mexico on October 12.
San José State-Wyoming series: Wyoming leads the series, 6-1. The Cowboys left as winners in each of the last three contests. The two teams are facing each other for the first time since Wyoming posted a 30-10 victory on September 20, 1997 in Laramie. San José State's only win in the series was a 26-24 triumph in Laramie on October 3, 1992. The game ended on a 60-yard game-winning field goal by Joe Nedney of the Spartans. At the time, it was the second longest game-winning field goal converted off of a grass playing field.

Catching up to .500: For the first time since the second game of the season, San José State is at the .500 plateau after the 34-27 victory at Colorado State. The Spartans are in the midst of their first winning streak of the season. In each of its last two victories, San José State came from behind at some point for the win. At Hawai'i, the Spartans trailed 14-3 in the first half before scoring the next 31 points. At Colorado State, the Spartans were behind three different times before pulling ahead to stay.
A 2013 Mountain West first: San José State is the first Mountain West team this season to win games in three different time zones. The Spartans opened 2013 with a home win over Sacramento State. San José State added wins in the Hawaiian time zone on October 5 and the Mountain time zone at Colorado State on October 12. San José State's remaining six regular season games are in the Pacific time zone.
Recent road success: With the Colorado State win, San José State is 8-3 in its last 11 road games dating back to a 27-24 win at Fresno State on November 26, 2011.
Offense finding a groove: San José State produced a season-high 608 yards of total offense in the Colorado State victory. The offensive production was the 16th in school history the Spartans gained at least 600 yards in a game. Over the last four games, San José State is averaging 516.25 yards of total offense a game and raised its season average to 447.2 yards per game.
Big plays on offense in 2013:  This season, the Spartans have 17 plays of 30 or more yards. Six of them including one kickoff return of 45 yards by Tim Crawley came at Hawai'i and five others at Minnesota. The passing combination of Fales to wide receiver Chandler Jonesaccounts for seven of the 17 long-yardage plays in 2013.
11 3rd-down conversions at Colorado State: For the second time this season, San José State converted 10 or more 3rd-down opportunities when it converted a season-best 11-of-18 third downs in the Colorado State win. The Spartans also converted 10 third-down chances against Utah State and have a 40.4 percent conversion rate at midseason. Since the 2001 season, the 11 conversions against Colorado State are the most by San José State team in a game.
David Fales ties Mountain West record: Quarterback David Falestied a Mountain West single-season record for most consecutive games with 300 or more passing yards with his 431-yard effort in the October 12 Colorado State victory. Fales began his streak with 439 yards at Minnesota and continued with 314 against Utah State and 318 at Hawai'i. He tied the conference record set by Brigham Young's John Beck in 2006 and matched by Max Hall of BYU at the end of the 2008 and beginning of the 2009 seasons. During this four-game span, Fales' 375.5 passing yards a game is the highest for him in any similar stretch since he joined the Spartans in 2012.
Freshmen making their mark: San José State's last two victories clearly have a freshman flair about them. TE Billy Freeman, RB Jarrod Lawson and WR Tyler Winston became the first trio of Spartan freshmen to score at least one touchdown in a game since a November 2, 1995 win over UNLV when they scored three consecutive San José State victory at Hawai'i. Lawson, Tim Crawley and Thomas Tucker became the first San José State freshman threesome since the October 27, 2001 win over Tulsa in Spartan Stadium to rush for at least 200 yards in a game in the 37-27 win at Hawai'i. Crawley, Lawson and Tucker combined for 45 carries for 230 yards and a touchdown. In the Colorado State win, Winston and Lawson became the first known pair of San José State freshmen with at least 100 pass receiving yards in the same game when Winston caught eight passes for 151 yards and a score and Lawson hauled in three balls for 104 yards and a touchdown. This season, 17 freshmen played in at least one game. RBs Tim Crawley and Jarrod Lawson, WR Tyler Winston, TEs Billy Freeman and Andrew Vollert, OLBs Eugene Taylor and Isaiah Irving and LBs Christian Tago and Moses Saucedo have at least one starting call in 2013.
