COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— For the fifth consecutive year, a school-record number of San José State University student-athletes received a 2025-26 Mountain West Scholar-Athlete Award as 131 Spartans are honored for their performances in the classroom during their athletic career.
The MW Scholar-Athlete Award is one of the highest academic honors bestowed by the conference. To be eligible for the award this year, student-athletes must have completed at least two semesters at the institution and have a 3.5 or better cumulative grade point average while being a member of an intercollegiate team.
The Spartan student-athletes represent 18 sports, including six teams with double-digit honorees, led by baseball with 18, women’s swimming & diving with 17, football at 16, men’s track and field with 12 and women’s gymnastics and softball with 10 honorees each.
A school-record 12 Spartans have the distinction of receiving four or five MW Scholar-Athlete recognitions.
